Seamless Background #3

This tutorial shows how to make a seamless background from a glyph.

Step 1.Go to Project>Size and Color.  Select a light yellow background. Then set the size of your canvas to width=200 and height=260.  Click on the rectangle tool and drag our a rectange and position it on the canvas like I have done here. Go to the color and texture library and color it with the GeneTx indicated by the red arrow in the image to the right. With the rectangle selected, click on Object>Convert to> Bitmap.

Step 2. Click on Text>Import Font (Glyphs) and select a dingbat of a butterfly. I picked one from WM Insects from www.dafont.com Position the glyph on top of the bitmap (rectangle) as shown. Then, select both the bitmap and the glyph. Click on Bitmap>Crop to Object.

Step 3. Your project should now look like this. Select the butterfly and copy and paste it a few times, altering its size and rotating it a little.  In the next step you will see how I position the copies of the butterfly.

Step 4.  Now you have multiple butterflies on the canvas. Select all the butterflies and package them. With the package selected, select a Flat transparency and right click on the slider and set it to 210.

Step 5.  That is it!! You are done!! The resulting image to be used as a backgound is to the right. Click here to see this seamless background used in a web page.
