Cutout |
Learn a photo manipulation technique that will show you how to alter images to get an 3D effect. In this tutorial, Spiderman crawls out of a laptop computer! |
Step 1.Open the image in RealDRAW that contains the object that you want to cut out. |

Step 2. Use the Pen Tool to create a vector that fits over the part of the image to cutout. |
Step 3, Go to Bitmap>Crop to object. Your result should look similar to the picture at the right. If you have little imperfections in your cutout image, don't worry. You can fix them with the eraser tool or the paintbrush. |
. |
Step 4.Now open the image that you want to paste the cutout in. |
Step 5. Move the cutout image to the top layer so you can see it. Now, we could leave the cutout at this angle, but I am going to rotate the cutout so that Spiderman appear to be crawling straight at you. And while I am at it, I am going to use the eraser tool to smooth out the little imperfections on the top of his head. Also, highlight the cutout layer, go to Bitmap>Create>Bitmap Shadow from Selected Objects. Then, click on the shadow layer, and move it down toward the keyboard. You may also want to lower the opacity of the shadow layer. |
Step 6. The results of all the adjustments made in the previous step are shown in the picture to the right. Note the smooth head and the shadow under the arm and hand that is over the keyboard. You could stop here, but I want to add a hole in the monitor that Spiderman is crawling through. Open an image of a hole in broken glass (search for one if you don't have one). |
Step 7. Play with selecting the blending layer that gives you the best result for the broken glass. It will depend on the actual image you have. Align the glass image on the layer below the cutout. And. position the hole so that it looks like Spiderman crawled through it. That is it! Try this effect...it is easy to do in RealDRAW! |
