Coffee Mug |
In this tutorial you will learn how to a coffee mug using 3 shapes: circle, torid, & rounded rectangle. |
Step 1.Select the rounded rectangle from the shapes tool. Set the roundedness of the corners by moving the slider on the Corners scale --set it just below the halfway mark as shown to the right below. |

Step 2. Now we add the handle to the mug. Select the torid (if you don't see it, click on the circle tool and it will appear as one of the options). Click and drag out the shape of the handle. Click again & drag the width of the handle. Position the handle as shown then send the torid to the back in the layers window. Select the torid and with one hand on the shift key, select the rounded rectangle too. Go up to the menu, select Objects>Combine Objects>Boolean Union to combine the two shapes into one. NOTE: It is important to select the torid first, and the rounded rectangle second for the combination to work properly. |

Step 3, Select the combined object and make it any color you want. I choose this shade of blue (91,101,247). |

Step 4.Drag out a circle, as long as the top portion of the rounded rectangle and position the circle as shown. Color the circle with a shade of color that is darker than the mug color you used. In my case, I used a darker shade of blue (26,36,197). Copy and paste this darker circle twice; move 1 copy out of the way--we will need it in a little while, so do delete it.Now select the copy that you did not move out of the way and color it black. |
Step 5.Select the black circle and make it somewhat smaller than the dark blue (or whatever color you are using) circle it is sitting on top of. Adjust the size of the black circle so that you can see a narrow bit of dark blue. It should look like the pcture to the right.. |
Step 6. Get the last copy of the circle you made in Step 4, and move it to the bottom of the mug. I colored mine a dark blue so you could see where I positioned it. |
Step 7. Now, color that circle the same color as the mug and you are done! A coffee mug made with 3 shapes...cool, huh? Click here to see another version with a background and a spoon in the mug |
